I love my Doppler! And a request for help

Against my doctor’s wishes, I got a Doppler, and I love it! Like I said yesterday, I’ve been having some cramping after doing a little work outside this weekend. I am taking your advice, and I’m officially lazy – for the rest of my pregnancy! There’s no need to stress out like this, and I’ll have plenty of time after work to get back in shape. Yesterday, the cramping got worse – and sharp. All weekend they were dull achy kind of cramps, but then yesterday I started getting sharp pains – which suck! I plan to talk with my doc on Friday about it – I go in for my 12 week checkup and NT scan. Crazy, I know!

Anyway, I went home yesterday and sitting in my mailbox was a Doppler from my dear friend Laura. She just had a baby boy a month ago, and there she is at the post office sending me her Doppler – amazing. I was able to put it on my belly and I heard the most beautiful sound of all – my little one’s heartbeat… Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, super fast – love it! After all the cramping, at least I was able to confirm that my little guy is fine.

Speaking of Laura, I’d like to ask a favor. For all the mom’s out there, can you stop by and give her some comfort and perhaps some advice? She’s having a hard time with her newborn, with getting him to sleep and with her dealing with the lack of sleep and all the other stuff that comes with having a newborn with reflux and sleeping issues. She could use some support right now, so if you could go over there and give her a virtual hug, I think it would help. Thanks!

  1. The doppler has to be the best invention! I am so glad you got one. We only use ours once or twice a week but it really eases my fears!

  6. Another lazy one here too. I've stopped all exercise due to the BH contractions. I feel a bit slothy, but if there was ever a time to be "lazy" this is it. Try to embrace it.

So glad you got a doppler. I <3 mine. I just saw a medical center commercial today that featured a handheld U/S machine. Hmmm...if only I knew how to get my hands on one of those. LOL!

  12. I got my doppler when I was 10 weeks pg because I knew there was no way on earth I was going to be able to get through the pregnancy without worrying until I could feel movement. I listened to my daughter's heart beat every single day before I went to bed clear up until the day she was born. For me, it was a way to connect with her in addition to knowing she was still growing and doing her baby thing in there. Once you figure out the art of finding the heart beat you'll be good to go for the rest of your pregnancy. Just a tip, it was always hard to find the heart beat if I went too high above the pubic bone. I seemed to find her 95 times out of 100 just right between the pubic bones and just above the hair line. That seemed to be the magic spot. :)

  13. Woohoo for the doppler! I wanted one but with quads I figured I would get the HBs mixed up and panic if I couldn't distinguish them. =)

I stopped by Laura's blog to offer a hug and advice/support!

  15. Great idea...glad you have a doppler to ease your fears. I will head over to say hello to your friend. Jay had colic and didn't sleep when it was dark for almost 2 months. I know what it's like.

  17. The ABI test is a systolic blood pressure comparison between the arms (brachial) and ankles (dorsalis
pedis and posterior tibial), so ankle brachial index doppler is must.

  18. This is a great article. I’ve read in many
    other places before that but
I did not get this type of effective and
more useful text. It is really important now to
vary your anchors as this seems more natural to user.
This article helped me a lot to understand information.
