It’s Done!

I finally made it through the week, and made it to a fabulous transfer of two beautiful embryos today. It went pretty well. It’s amazing how if you’ve gone through something before, it’s so much easier and much less scary. I just walked in there knowing the routine, and it was definitely easy. I wonder how easy it will be if I keep doing this! Jus t kidding – should try to stay more positive…

We, or I guess I should say I, decided on transferring two embryos. I sent the hubs all kinds of information about the risk of triplets, and he said that yes, it’s scary, but he still wanted to do three embryos. I kept trying to talk to him about it, trying to get him to see my point, but he didn’t. Finally he just told me that it’s my body, I get to make the decision, but he didn’t agree. And so it was. If this doesn’t work, I may go for three…

Last time I was so positive - just so sure it was going to work. And it didn’t. I’ve felt that with IUI’s, and with the IVF. And had overwhelming failure. But this time, I don’t know. I hate to admit that I feel a little hope, but not that much. Maybe that will get me through these two weeks a little easier. Who knows?

A friend in real life told me she heard about the pineapple thing, and then one of the nurses at the office today told me about it, and so, here I am, eating pineapple. Eating one-fourth of a pineapple, including the core, every day for four days, starting the day of transfer. There’s some kind of enzyme in there that is supposed to help with implantation. I always thought it was kind of bogus, but now I’m willing to do just about anything… Aren’t we all?

So here I am, on bed rest until Monday morning, hoping these two little guys grab on and hold on tightly. I have a fabulous weekend planned of cross stitch, organizing paperwork, tax return, and movies. I went to the grocery store this morning and got all kinds of healthy snacks and good food. And the friend that is staying with us and is an amazing cook, and has offered to make dinner sometime this weekend, so that will be nice. They just left for an evening out, which is just fine. I still feel a little off from the Valium (fabulous drug, by the way).

I hope the next two weeks until the beta will go quickly. I still have a lot of work to do, I’m hosting a baby shower next weekend, and the hubs is having outpatient surgery during that time. So I hope all this will keep me distracted, so I can achieve my number one goal: no peeing on anything! For the first time ever, I’m going to try really hard not to pee on ANYTHING!!!! Because I’ve learned nothing good can come from peeing – Nothing! (Yes, I’m trying to convince myself as well…)

So I’ll sign off and start my first order of business for bedrest – reading blogs! I’m so behind! Can’t wait to hear what you lovely ladies are up to…

  2. Woohoo! I am glad to hear that it was done and went smoothly. Yeah, pine-apples will help and they won't certainly hurt.

  3. Really hope that this is it for you! I was told by my naturopath to eat pineapple core as well because it contains bromelain. What do you have to lose? Tonight is my last night of meds and will trigger tonight. ER is on Sunday. Nervous and wish I had the same success as you did with 29 eggs! Holy cow! I will be checking in with you often and wish you all the best. Rest up and let implantation do its thang

  13. Alex - sounds like you are doing the right things - pineapple has bromelain (enzyme) that is suppose to help with implantation... so you are feeding those embryos already :)

Sounds like you have a lovely wkd planned and I think your 2ww will fly by with all that you have going on.

Best of luck and we are here for you every step of the way!!

  16. Supposedly there is a nutrient in the core of the pineapple called bromelien or something like that. I've read many places that it helps with implantation. My RE is the first one who mentioned it to me. If it works for you, I will definitely be doing it next month. lol

Best wishes during this TWW. I've got my fingers crossed and am saying a prayer.

Try to stay sane... and no peeing!

  17. Yay for smooth transfers! Now you lay in bed and think about things growing and planting and all sorts of spring type things, and help those eggies stick! I hope that the 2ww is smooth and quick for you and that the beta rocks. Hugs to you!

  18. You are officially pregnant until proven otherwise! I hope your 2ww goes quick, which it sounds like it will!

We are almost pseudo-cycle buddies. I'm assuming you had a 5d transfer (?) and I'm 3 or 4dpo. I'm also joining you on the "I hate Progesterone" train. Ugh. I'm taking the natural form in a fatty acid that also melts "internally". Gross.

But again, Good luck and I hope you are knocked up in no time and that pineapple pays off!

  41. I know I'm a little behind on the commenting, but glad to hear that things went well, and you seem relatively unstressed right now. I think the enzyme in the pineapple that's supposed to help is bromelain, which you can actually buy in pill form because it supposedly aids digestion. Just in case you get sick of eating it :).

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hope they make it, dear. Keep us updated. But without peeing on anything :).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hope and Pineapple. One makes us feel good, the other just tastes good. I always try to include both in my 2ww.
I am so excited for you! and hopeful.
You are amazing for hosting a baby shower.
Sending extra hope, calm thoughts and encouragement for those embryos to implant!

  44. Keeping everything crossed for you and your perfect little embabies!!

  45. Oh Alex, think we're beta-ing on the same day! One week down, one to go. You've got a baby-shower this weekend and I've got two full days of Chemistry classes to get through. The sad thing is in my current state I can't actually say which would be more painful. I hope you have a great time and that it goes well and that this next week flies by for both of us.
