Hysteroscopy – Scheduled!

Well, the IVF train is finally starting. My hysteroscopy is scheduled for one week from today – November 16. I’m supposed to stop taking BCP the day of the hysteroscopy. And then a few days after that, I should get my period, will go in for CD3 bloodwork/ultrasound, then start stimming! I’ll be stimming before Thanksgiving!!!

Finally, I feel like we’re moving forward. The only thing – and it’s huge – is we haven’t been formally pre-approved by the insurance. I’ve been pre-approved with a “future employee” label, but not with our actual name and member ID – the hubs won’t get that until the next couple of days. So I’m nervous about that, but I think it should be ok.

The hubs started his new job – it’s amazing. Besides the major factor that he’s really excited about the job, and what he’ll be doing, the benefits are incredible. It’s one of those old-school, want to be the best place to work, kind of places. They’ll even pay 6 months of maternity leave!!! Can you believe that crap? Maybe I should go work there… But there are little things too, like if we enroll in their healthy pregnancy program, then they’ll buy us a car seat! So bizarre – I didn’t know there were companies still out there like this. Based on all of this, I feel pretty confident that the insurance thing will work, but I’m still super nervous… We’ll see!

Any advice on the hysteroscopy? They said it will involve general anesthesia, which is always a little scary. And my hubs can’t take the day off to take me – he’s busy that day, and it’s the only time I can do it before Thanksgiving. The place where I’ll have it done is about an hour away, so I think I’ll cab it there and have one of my friends pick me up. Sometimes it really sucks not having family around here… It should be fine, but of course I’m nervous about it. Most of all though, I’m happy to start the process – let’s get this show on the road!

  1. Wow, what an awesome company. Are they still hiring? I'm sorry you have to take yourself to the hysteroscopy. I'd be nervous, too, but I'm sure it will be totally fine.

  2. So awesome to have things scheduled like this!!! GL with approval.

Seriously, the insurance at his job is awesome. I really want to move and start working there!!!

My hysteroscopy wasn't too bad. Honestly, the worst part was recovering from the drugs they used to put me under. Mine wasn't under general anesthesia but under about three or four "knock out" drugs that was a step beyond twilight sleep but a step before general. My body just takes a while to process those sorts of things so I was out of it for about two days afterward. Pain-wise, recovery really wasn't that bad with meds for a day or two.

  3. All aboard the IVF train! : ) I'm happy for you that your hubby is working for such a great company! That must be a huge relief. If you lived around here I would take you to your hysteroscopy.

  4. Great news on multiple fronts! What a great company your Hubs is at, don't waste energy worrying about insurance, it will all work out!
My hysterscopy turned into something a little more complex so I ended up being "out" a bit longer than orginally planned. I did get really sick from the drugs but within a couple of days I wad fine! I wish I lived close so I could drive you! So excited for you to start the ball rolling.

  6. That does sound like an awesome job!

I was awake during my hysteroscopy. I didn't even know people went out for it. And I had a few cramps and took an Advil afterwards. So... I wouldn't be nervous! Hope it goes well.

  8. Hey honey, I haven't had a hysteroscopy so sorry I can't help there. Definitely get someone to pick you up though as you will probably be quite sleepy and need the rest of the day at least to sleep it off (I have been under a general 3 times in the last 2 years!) I am so happy for you and amazed and how wonderful DH's new job sounds! Wahoo :) Hope all is OK once you get the member ID. Yay for moving on!

  16. Wow! Awesome company to work for! I didn't think companies like that still existed in America.

Good luck with your surgery! Not sure if you know this, but if it requires general anesthesia, someone will have to be in the waiting room at all times. They won't do the surgery otherwise. And you definitely will need someone to drive you home. I believe you're not supposed to drive for 24-48 hours after general anesthesia. You'll definitely be groggy. No doubt. But other than the grogginess, you'll be fine! Good luck! :)

  19. Okay so when ever I hear the H word I have to tell my story. This was my first procedure in the IVF world. I had never had a male Dr. and was still modest at this point-that is definitely not the case now...anyway. Me and my modest self went over the to the hospital for my scheduled H appt and the nice lady nurse takes me into the xray room and explains that the xray table doesn't have stirrups so I would need to lay like a frog. I'm thinking okay, I have a gown on and she's making me feel comfortable. I'm laying there with my legs like a frog, she's getting everything ready and says "okay, let me bring everyone in..." 3 men walk in, I now have four people in the room and the person performin gthe procedure he's like 24, HOT like a young george clooney, had all kinds of trouble getting the tube in. I wanted to sink into the xray table so bad. I just kept thinking this moment would pass. If I ever saw that guy again I would know his face instantly. Yours should be a breeze compared to that! Good luck chica!
